How is best to draw the actual floorplan area ? Will it work best trying to draw the whole outline layout first then add in seperate wall lines to create the actual room divides or construct the whole layout area as individual rooms and then rmove walls where not required ?

The best way is to use the ‘draw room’ tool the most. Only use the ‘draw wall/line’ for walls that are sticking out or don’t divide a room. Splitting a room with a wall created with the ‘draw wall/line’ tool won’t split the generated surface. I usually create a giant room that more or less covers your plan with the ‘draw room’tool and then fill in the little rooms with the same tool. But please look at our help section for videos.

I just started using floorplanner, and would consider paying for it…However I am having trouble similar to that described above. If you have for example a club house on an elevated patio. There are 2 seperate blocks of rooms, completely unattached from each other, but the software “draw room” function only lets you draw a new room from the corner of an existing one? Is that correct? This means you cant have two distinct structural blocks that stand alone from each other on the same foot print

I’m have the same issue here. Strange that it doesn’t allow you to draw a new room that is unattached from an existing room. I’m not an architect so I’m wondering if this is some sort of engineering restriction?
